Join Uptown sound!!

UptownSound, lead by John Quillin, is our brand-new a cappella ensemble joining Queen City Performing Arts. Their first concert is October 23rd and we are THRILLED to have them joining us.

Below, you’ll find everything you’ll want to know about auditioning to sing with the UptownSound for the next semester (Spring 2027)!

Appointments are 15 minutes long and are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you're interested, simply fill out the form to the left. We'll do our best to accommodate your request, though your first choice may already be filled. If so, we'll work with you to find another appointment that fits your schedule.

What to Prepare

Please prepare one song that best showcases your voice.  

Choose a favorite song - a verse and a chorus will do. Singing unaccompanied is preferred. No accompanist will be provided, but if you need to sing to a karaoke track, you’ll need to bring a device to play it on.

Your audition will also include:

Vocal range exercises, pitch-matching exercises, a brief sight-reading exercise, and a conversation with our director about your musical background, your availability, and what you can expect as a member of Uptown Sound
